Fotona Micropeel

A precise refresh, one layer at a time.

APR 20 2026

Overview

A precise laser peel that removes a very thin layer of damaged skin to refresh texture, even tone, and reveal cleaner-looking skin underneath. Recovery takes about a week, and results build with each session.

What's going on beneath the skin

The surface of your skin accumulates damage over time. Sun exposure, environmental stress, and slowing cell turnover leave behind uneven texture, dullness, and early lines. These changes are real, but they live in a relatively shallow layer of the skin, which means a targeted, superficial approach can address them without requiring aggressive treatment.

The Fotona Micropeel uses a precise erbium laser to remove a very thin outer layer of damaged skin. The removal is controlled and shallow. As the skin heals, fresh cells replace the old ones, and the thermal energy delivered during treatment stimulates collagen production in the layers beneath. The depth can be adjusted to suit your skin's specific needs and how much recovery time you have available.

Daily & Ongoing Care

At-home care:

  • SPF 30 or higher daily. Freshly resurfaced skin is particularly vulnerable to UV damage.
  • Keep the skin consistently moisturised throughout the healing period
  • Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for at least 1 week post-treatment
  • Avoid direct sun, saunas, and strenuous exercise for the first week
  • Do not pick or peel the skin. Let it shed on its own.

Before treatment:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 4 to 6 weeks before treatment
  • Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids 5 to 7 days before your appointment
  • Avoid waxing and chemical treatments in the area for 1 to 2 weeks prior
  • If you have a history of cold sores, discuss antiviral medication with your provider beforehand
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin

What to expect

During treatment

A topical numbing cream is applied as needed. The laser handpiece moves across the skin in a precise pattern. Most patients feel mild warmth with an occasional brief sting. Sessions run 30 to 45 minutes. The skin may look slightly bronzed immediately after, which is normal.

After treatment

The first 48 hours bring redness similar to a sunburn, followed by mild peeling on days 3 to 5 as the old layer sheds. Keep the skin moisturised and let it peel on its own timeline. Makeup is generally possible within 24 to 48 hours if skin is intact. Most patients are comfortable in public within a week.

Results timeline

Once healing is complete, skin feels noticeably smoother and looks cleaner. Tone and texture continue to refine over the following weeks as collagen production increases. Most patients see the best results after 2 to 3 months, with each additional session building on the last.
