Treatment
Cryotherapy
Targeted cold for the precise removal of surface skin lesions.

What It Is
Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy superficial skin lesions at the surface level. At Vos clinics, it is administered via the CryAc device for precision application, and is most commonly used to treat actinic keratoses: rough, scaly patches caused by cumulative sun exposure that, if left untreated, can progress to more serious skin concerns.
How It Works
Liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the target lesion. The rapid freeze destroys the abnormal cells by forming ice crystals within them, and the body then sheds the treated tissue over the following weeks. Most lesions are addressed in a single session, though some patients require a follow-up appointment.
What to Expect
The procedure takes minutes per site. There is a brief stinging sensation during application. The treated area may blister, crust, or darken over the days that follow, which is part of the normal healing response. Downtime is approximately one week, during which the lesion separates and falls away. Full resolution is typically visible within one to four weeks.
Good Candidates
Cryotherapy is most appropriate for patients with confirmed or suspected actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, or other surface lesions your practitioner identifies as suitable. A consultation will determine whether cryotherapy or an alternative modality is the right approach for your specific presentation.

It Depends
Can be valuable - but results, value, or fit are more dependent on the patient, concern, or treatment plan.
