Cellulite
Understand what causes cellulite, why it has nothing to do with how clean you eat, and what actually works to reduce its appearance.

What's happening beneath the skin?
Cellulite is one of the most common cosmetic concerns and affects the majority of women at some point in their lives. It is a structural skin issue rather than a sign of excess weight, and while it cannot be eliminated entirely, its appearance can be meaningfully improved with the right approach.
Cellulite occurs when subcutaneous fat pushes through fibrous connective tissue bands (septae) that tether the skin to the underlying muscle. In women, septae run vertically, allowing fat to herniate upward and create the dimpled appearance. In men, septae run diagonally in a cross-hatch pattern, which is why cellulite is far less common in men.
Severity depends on fat layer thickness, septae tension and rigidity, and the quality and thickness of the overlying skin. Poor circulation, lymphatic drainage, and collagen loss with age all worsen appearance over time.
What Causes It?
What Causes It?
Genetics (strongest predictor); hormones (oestrogen influences fat distribution, blood flow, and connective tissue structure); low collagen density and skin thinning with age; sedentary lifestyle and poor circulation; weight gain increasing subcutaneous fat volume.
